Terms of service
The agreement between you and briq: what we provide, what you are responsible for, and what happens when something goes wrong.
These terms govern your use of briq. They are meant to be read, so they are short. Where a clause would normally run for a page of boilerplate, it runs for a sentence instead.
Last updated: 21 September 2026.
1. Who you are contracting with
briq is operated by [TO FILL: legal entity name], registered in France under [TO FILL: SIREN/SIRET], at [TO FILL: registered address] ("briq", "we"). By creating an account or using an API key, you ("you") accept these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you may bind it.
2. What briq provides
briq runs container images as isolated microVMs on your instruction, or on the instruction of an AI agent holding one of your API keys, and gives you an API, an MCP server, a CLI and a dashboard to drive them. What runs, and what it does, is your choice.
briq is early software. Features change, and some of what is documented is marked as planned rather than shipped. We will not break a documented API without notice, but we will add to it often.
3. Your account and your keys
You need an account, accurate contact details, and you must be old enough to enter a contract.
An API key is a bearer credential. Anything done with your key is treated as done by you, including anything done by an agent you gave it to. Keep keys secret, give each agent the narrowest policy that works, and revoke a key the moment you suspect it has leaked. We cannot recover a key for you, because we only ever store its hash.
Policies, spend caps and TTLs are safety features and we run them before every machine is created. They are not a financial guarantee: metering is reconciled against provider usage, so a cap can be crossed by a small margin before enforcement catches up. Treat a cap as a brake, not as a contractual ceiling.
4. Acceptable use
briq is for running software you or your agent are working on. Do not use it for crypto mining, unsolicited mail, scanning or attacking networks, content illegal in the EU, or attempts to escape the isolation between tenants. The security page sets out the abuse policy and how to report abuse.
You are responsible for having the right to run the images you run, and for the content your briqs process or serve.
5. Your data
What you or your agent put inside a briq stays yours. We do not claim rights over it, we do not use it to train anything, and we do not look at it except where you ask us to for support or where we must to investigate abuse or comply with the law.
Where that content includes personal data, you are the controller and we are the processor. The data processing agreement applies and forms part of these terms. How we handle your own account data is described in the privacy notice.
6. Money
briq is billed per second while a briq runs, at the size rates published on the pricing section, plus storage for stopped briqs. Prices are in euro and exclude VAT, which we add where required.
During v0 the service runs on prepaid credits topped up manually. Credits are consumed by usage, are not transferable, and are refundable only where the law requires. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before raising prices.
7. Availability
There is no service level agreement during v0, and you should not put anything you cannot lose on briq yet. We publish status at status.briq.run. Briqs are ephemeral by design: a briq stops at its TTL, and a destroyed briq and its volume are gone. Keep your own backups of anything that matters.
8. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time; running briqs are destroyed and unused credits are handled as in section 6.
We may suspend an account or a key immediately where there is abuse, a security risk to other tenants, non-payment, or a legal requirement. Where the situation allows it we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it. We will always tell you afterwards, with the reason.
9. Warranties and liability
briq is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the three months before the claim, or one hundred euro. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost data.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under French law. If you are a consumer rather than a business, your statutory rights are unaffected.
10. Changes
We may change these terms. For material changes we will email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect, and continuing to use briq after that means you accept them. If you do not, close your account and we will refund unused credits.
11. Law and disputes
French law governs these terms, and the courts of [TO FILL: city of the registered office] have jurisdiction, subject to any right a consumer has to sue in their own country. Before litigating, please write to us; most things are a misunderstanding that an email fixes.
